Rating appeals can still be submitted against the 2005 rating revaluation and
a well considered appeal could lead to large savings in annual business rates
outgoings.
The 2005 Rating Revaluation took effect from 1st April 2005 - the first for five
years - and as a result the majority of commercial properties experienced changed
rateable values.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) introduced Statutory Instrument
2005 No. 659 entitled "The Non-Domestic Rating (Alteration of Lists and Appeals)
(England) Regulations 2005" on radical proposals to change Rates appeal procedures.
